How does a typical Training look like?

After entering the dojo, we sit all together in seiza (samurai sitting position), meditate shortly and bow towards the aikido sign and greet the teacher.
Then we make some warm-up excercises.
Yunus thinks: A deep stand causes pain in the legs. But I know we must strenghten our legs...
Strong legs are important in any martial art:
And then? Do we then practice techniques?
No, not yet. How can we learn throwing without partners who can securely fall? Therefore we want to learn falling also.
You know how to fall securely?

OK, you can use a parachute.
But that is not very convenient. It works after 10 meters of free fall.

So we must try something else. Something like a big ball. A ball cannot fall to the side because it is round. We then try to become round like a ball and to roll instead of falling. We do ukemi...

Ukemi? What's that?

After we've trained falling, it is time for the techniques. The teacher shows them and we try to repeat the movements. It's so great that we do not depend on any weapons or special skills. And therefore it is normal that boys train with girls, big ones with little ones and beginners with advanced.
It works fine only because we obey some rules and that's why: It's much more quiet than in the class room,  as Yunus says.
But even when we train seriously - it does not mean that we are always serious and without any sense of humour.
I like to come to aikido and I really enjoy it - exclaimed Julia. Also Yunus says: I've been doing it for three months and it's a real pleasure. And Marcel also: It's a lot of fun. Anybody can come and try!
